Learning To Change

posted by admin in Uncategorized

My Granddad doesn’t like change. That’s putting it mildly. He hates it if the TV controller is put on the wrong-arm rest, and he practically yells the house down if it gets put there the wrong way around before his favourite TV show is about to start. But it isn’t just Granddads up and down the country who don’t like change, of course, we’re all guilty of it. Think about it: when was the last time you met someone who More

Bus-Bus-Bus It!

I used to be one of those people who complained about going on the bus. “The people you get on the bus are never less than freakish and odd and scary for a girl!” I would say. Or, when I was feeling more creative in my hatred, “the screechy-scraping of the twigs and branches on the sides of the bus as we pass round country lanes feels me with a feeling of profound dread which I then carry with me for the rest of the day and when I am extremely unfortunate, weeeeeek!”

Now I have changed my mind. After several weeks of being forced on to the bus – the car is bust – I have finally found why going on the bus is a fantastic thing.

It’s simple: there is always someone worse off than you and guess what? you will probably find them on the bus. There are rules to follow, of course, you can’t just sit anywhere. This is an art, not just something you can do without thinking.

  1. Sit on the ground floor of the bus, preferably near the front. The people who moan the most (“I’m considering a face-lift but I’m not sure…we had an accident with kerosene heating oil the last time I had face-lifts on my mind…it seems I am cursed every time I think about having a face-lift…”) are often the ones who sit near the front. The top of the bus is reserved for teenagers who still think it’s cool to ride up there, and people who, for some odd reason, do not want to hear depressing moaning on their way to / from work. They don’t know what they’re missing!

  2. Take out your music. There is no way you can truly appreciate the blissful sound of other people’s misfortune unless you are fully open to hear it!

  3. Why not, if you are feeling brave, add your misfortune to the mix? Combine yours with their and you will almost certainly feel a hundred times better and more happier about life for getting that off your chest!
